FIFA Introduces Championship Rings For The First Time Ever — 30 Going To World Cup Winners, Nearly 2,000 More Up For Grabs

FIFA has confirmed a brand-new tradition for the 2026 World Cup, one borrowed straight from American sports culture: championship rings for the eventual winners.
According to an official FIFA announcement, the team that lifts the trophy at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19 won't just walk away with the World Cup and gold medals. For the first time in the tournament's history, they'll also receive custom-designed championship rings, a symbol of victory long associated with leagues like the NFL and NBA, now making its way into global football.
The design features the World Cup trophy engraved on one side, while the reverse will be tailored to reflect the identity of whichever nation ultimately wins.
In total, FIFA is producing a limited run of 2,026 individually numbered rings to mark the tournament. Of those, 30 will go directly to the champions, while the remaining 1,996 will be released publicly as officially licensed collectibles, giving fans worldwide the chance to own a piece of World Cup history themselves. Public units will include personalized sizing and come with a certificate of authenticity.
As for the rollout, the team's captain and head coach will be the first to receive their rings shortly after the final whistle. The rest of the squad's 30 rings will then be custom-fitted and formally presented at a later date, ensuring each one is sized properly and becomes a lasting keepsake for the players involved.
